Patti Reiko Osebold – Japanese Sculpted Paper Dolls
I am Japanese American born in Hawaii and one would think I grew up knowing about my roots. But it was years later that I became interested in the art of making Japanese sculpted dolls and doing origami, first in Iowa and then in Spokane. Maturity, right time, right place.
I make a full body sculptural form from a clay made in Japan first, and then clothe the doll form with hand-made paper. And each one has a story. And origami? It’s just plain fun! I love the texture and versatility of paper in all its forms.
