“Music was always a huge part of my childhood. I grew up loving funk, rock & roll, blues, hip-hop & pop. But it was always the Latin music that really got under my skin and made me feel like I could cut loose. As a kid, I didn’t fully grasp the distinctions between Latin America, Spain, the Caribbean & Mexico. In hindsight, I think that helped me to be more embracing of all the various regional musical flavors and dialects, rather than choosing to single out one or two of the most popular. Once I understood that I really had to dive in and study all of it. Now I feel like I can bring something to the table that will bring more people into the party, and hopefully find more of a common thread between us. Viva la musica!”
